"One day Without Shoe"

Its all starts with taking off your shoes

At some point, we've all taken shoes for granted. In many impoverished countries, walking without shoes can lead to soil-transmitted parasites, which affect nearly 740 million people worldwide. These soil-transmitted disease or more commonly known as hookworm, are not only dangerous, but can have a serious impact on a child's life. Studies show that children affected by hookworm are 20% less likely to go to school and earn 40% less in adult life.

If you see a few bare feet walking around your town on April 16th there is no cause for alarm. The shoe company TOMS has established April 16th as "One Day Without Shoes" in an effort to raise global awareness to children's health and education by walking without shoes.
