Meet Voma: The New African Voice



 
 Veronica Ojonugwa  Matilda Akor  ( Born 5th May,)  known by her stage name Voma, is a Nigerian singer – songwriter. She was born and raised in Kogi State, Nigeria, where she lived with her large family. Her stage name “Voma” was derived from her birth name "Veronica Ojonugwa Matilda Akor" . 

 
Voma started singing in the Church choir alongside her identical twin sister. She was known as a music soul child back in the days in Government Girls Model High School in Kogi State, She was active in social activities in the boarding house with her lovely identical twin sister, everyone knew them as music girls in school. The twins lived far apart from each other after their secondary education.

 Voma, for the love of music, started visiting a recording studio close to her neighbourhood, where she did some backup singing for few recording artists.
Voma had her first track titled PUT IT DOWN recorded in Emdee's studio Kaduna State, Nigeria, in 2011, before moving to Abuja to start up her music career, this was to enable her get the kind of exposure she had always dreamt of, to start up as a singer and recording artist.

In 2012, Voma recorded her second single, NOT MY TYPE, this track got the attention of music lover and brought Voma recognition locally thus increasing her fans and supporters.
Voma decided to put more effort to her music career, in 2013 she released two more singles titled MY JOY and REAL ME.

Voma has a unique voice, nice lyrics and she is very beautiful and sexy.
She has been featured by several music artists such as.......
Voma is currently working on a yet to be titled Album which will be released on a yet to be set date. She has recorded some singles already for the yet to be titled album.

On the 5th of January, 2014 Voma released a single titled Olowo Orimi, from the yet to be titled album, which she said is the best of her Genre of music R&B to welcome her fans into a new year, OlOWO ORI MI is currently receiving radio airplay across several radio stations in Nigeria and downloads from blogs and online stores. 

 
Voma has been greatly influenced by other artists such as kelly Rowland, Rihanna, Tiwa savage, keke palmer, 2face and flavour nabania.
